Grab a book! "Read-A-Thon" is coming to Highlands February 26-March 9 through the San Mateo-Foster City Education Foundation. The Foundation hopes to raise enough money to preserve TK-5 Music Education for every student in San Mateo and Foster City. Elementary School Music is NOT funded by the state and costs our district $500,000 per year, a great cost to a District in financial crisis.
Please join the effort to save music through Read-A-Thon, an educational, equitable, fun way to raise money for a good cause.
Look for your student’s personalized flyer coming home in next week's Thursday Envelope, then help your student activate their reading page, track reading minutes online and invite friends, neighbors and family as reading sponsors. Thanks for your support!

SAVE THE DATE! MATH NIGHT AT HIGHLANDS
You know what seems odd to me? Numbers that aren't divisible by two. =P
If you laughed at that joke... I bet you and your kiddos would like a night of fun with a bit of education sprinkled in. Mark your calendar to join us for an evening of math and puzzles!
What's on the agenda, you ask? We're talking math games, puzzles, raffles... and even a scavenger hunt. Flex your brain muscles and have fun with your whole family! See you there.
Dear Highlands Families,
We are in the process of streamlining communications at Highlands and we have some exciting changes in the works! Starting this month, we will be moving to a once-a-month Thursday envelope flyer, featuring the school calendar on one side and event-related flyers on the backside. We are striving to reduce the amount of paperwork going back home and this is one step in that direction! For critical flyers or paper work, we will ensure that you will receive a printed copy of that, but for the most part, the monthly calendar/event flyer will be your source of information.
Weekly newsletters will continue to be sent through Membership Toolkit. Know of a Highlands family who is not in the loop? Please forward this email or ask them to sign up for weekly communications at http://highlands-pta.com!
