PROJECT WEE CARE - SPRING DRIVE

Project Wee Care kicks off its third collection of the school year on March 2nd through March 11th!

Help us teach your kids about our greater role in community and donate! If each Highlands Family brought just one item, we could make a HUGE contribution in serving food to our neighbors in need. Please remember these families as you do your grocery shopping.

LOOKING FOR A SCREEN TIME ALTERNATIVE?
ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO READ-0!

New this year, Highlands students receive a colorful READ-O filled with different engaging literacy activities each month. The activities are accessible across grade levels and translated into Spanish on the reverse. Students are encouraged to complete activities as part of their nightly reading homework and classes compete for the highest participation percentage monthly. Many of the activities get students thinking and communicating about their reading which improves reading comprehension.

Can’t find your READ-O among the holiday greetings and packages? READ-O is always available for you to print from the school website under “News and Announcements”, then “Community Flyers” or click HERE:

http://highlands.smfcsd.net/news-and-announcements/community-flyers.html

The PINK February READ-O is due Monday, March 2nd.

Striving for 100% Participation

The SMART Fund Annual Giving Campaign is our most important fundraiser of the year. ALL students benefit from your support.

We are asking the families who haven’t donated yet to please join the families who have contributed by clicking this link https://highlands-pta.membershiptoolkit.com/smartfund

Many of you contribute in other ways like volunteering, buying gift wrap and helping in the classrooms, and we are striving for 100% Highland’s SMART fund participation so even a small amount makes a difference.

You can also maximize your contribution with an employer corporate match.

Together, with everyone's help, we can continue to support important Highlands Elementary programs.

Any questions please email Missy Palala at m121212@comcast.net

What is the HIGHLANDS SMART FUND?

The Highlands SMART Fund supports all PTA-sponsored enrichment programs at Highlands Elementary during the school year. Donations to the Highlands SMART Fund are used entirely to fund enrichment programs and services for our students at Highlands Elementary. SMART represents the primary focus areas of Highlands PTA’s  fundraising efforts: Science, Math, Art, Reading and Technology. These areas are our primary focus, but we also support other activities to support the whole child. The SMART Fund is managed by the Highlands Elementary School PTA.

What is the difference between the HIGHLANDS SMART FUND and the San Mateo-Foster City Ed Foundation?

100% of the donations to the Highlands SMART Fund stay at our school to support our programs. The San Mateo-Foster City Education Foundation (SMFCEF) is a non-profit organization that raises dollars to support District-wide programs at all schools in the San Mateo-Foster City School District.

What do the HIGHLANDS SMART FUND dollars support?

The Highlands SMART Fund supports all PTA-sponsored enrichment programs at Highlands for the school year. These programs are supported by YOUR donations.*

  • Teacher Support: Computer Lab Teacher, TK/K PE Teacher, Before School Librarian, Reading Support Aide, English Language Aide, School Supervision, Teacher Grant Program
  • Student & Classroom Programs: Classroom Gardens, Hands-on Science Education, Supplemental Music Programs, Art-in-Action, Classroom School Supplies, Library Materials
  • Computers & Technology: Computers, Computer Lab Equipment, Audio/Visual Equipment, Education & Assessment Software
