Highlands is having a Principal’s Coffee Chat on December 6th, at 8:30 a.m. Our focus topic will be building a culture of literacy at home and at school. A bus will be provided for families from our North Central San Mateo area. The bus will pick up at College Park School.

December Dining Fundraiser - Tomatina Join us for our December Dining Fundraiser at Tomatina in San Mateo on Wednesday, December 6th. Present your waiter with flyer that will be included in the Thursday envelope or click here to get an electronic copy.
Tomatina will donate 15% of food and beverage sales from lunch, dinner and takeout.

Project Wee Care Collection
Project Wee Care Collection is in full swing! Please have your student bring a new toy for a child of any age to the blue Samaritan House collection bins located around campus. Toys do not need to be age specific nor do they need to be gift wrapped.
Collections will continue until December 12th. Please remember the families in need within our community as you do your holiday shopping!

Important Opportunity for Highlands Parents to Influence Budget Decisions in the San Mateo-Foster City School District
The San Mateo-Foster City School District is chronically underfunded and currently experiencing a structural deficit caused by increased pension liability, escalating costs of doing business and the loss of $7 million in parcel tax funds last year.
Parents and community members are invited to share ideas related to the District's fiscal deficit at a Town Hall meeting. What budget itemsare most important to the community(e.g. music, increasing teacher salaries, small group instruction allowed by our P.E. program)? Should we consider a parcel tax to raise revenue for these programs?
Four Town Hall Meetings will be held in December on the following dates from 6:30-7:30 pm:

Come show off your wares while neighbors shop leisurely at your table OR promote your business by donating services that will be auctioned off during the night. Participation in the expo will include advertisement of your business.
