This week-long fundraising event would not be paws-ible without our community support. Our thanks to those of you who have already signed up to help! If you would like to lend a paw, Volunteers Are Still Needed - shifts range from 30 minutes to an hour, during and after school.

2018 READ-A-THON HAS BEGUN!
The SMFC Education Foundation is pleased to facilitate a district-wide Read-a-Thon, from February 26 – March 9. Hopefully you have received your Parent Letterand a personalized flyer with your child's secret code for activating their Read-a-thon page. There is a free prize just for setting up their page!
During our Read-a-Thon, encourage your student to read and log their reading time. Please send support requests via text, email or other ways to family and close friends. Donations are easy to complete online. Students earn 15% back from all their donations as “RAT Bucks” that they can use to purchase prizes through the Read-a-thon web store.
All proceeds from the Read-a-Thon will go toward preserving TK-5th grade music instruction in our school district which is NOT FUNDED by the State. Thank you very much for your support of this worthy cause!

Join in the fun at our 15th biennial Walk-A-Jog fundraiser and the End-of-Year Family Festival!
For this year’s event, students will raise precious funds which support a wide range of programs at Highlands, including the arts, technology, physical education, assemblies, and academic support programs.
The course will be running up and down Lexington Avenue with the Festival taking place at the Highlands Recreation center, 1851 Lexington Avenue. The races for Grades TK through 5th will be held from 9:15 to 11:00am. Registration for the kids’ race starts at 8:30am.
There will be great prizes for the top student fund raiser and for the boy and girl students in each grade who finish first.
We invite all students to participate and all families to come cheer on the participants. The End-of-Year Family Festival will include fun and festivities for the entire family including bounce houses, great food and many more events to be announced!
This year we will also be running a 5K Adult Fun Run beginning at 8 AM!
*Cost includes Unlimited Laser Tag, Slice of Pizza, and a Drink. *Advance tickets must be purchased by March 11th.
(NO Drop-Offs- Parent/Chaperones must stay on the premises with the children they are responsible for)

Purchase your Early Bird tickets to this year's Crab Feed!
The 3rd Annual Highlands Crab Feed will be held Saturday, March 10th, starting at 6pm.
Early Bird Tickets are $50 until Feb. 23rd and $60 after that date. Alternate prime rib meal can be selected instead of crab.
Interested in purchasing a ticket for a teacher or staff member? You can do so on our online form by specifying the number of tickets desired, then list the names of the Highlands teacher/staff who will receive the gift ticket.
This spring,Highlands Elementary School is running a fundraiser through Good Eggs, the online grocery market in the Bay Area bringing absurdly fresh groceries to your door. Some of the parents at our school already use Good Eggs and swear by it.

On behalf of Project Wee Care and the Samaritan House we'd like to extend a HUGE thank you for your generous donations for the Holiday drive. Highlands along with another local school championed the largest collections which provided toys to over 2,000 children!

Wee Care is now kicking off our spring collection! Let's continue to support those in our community who are in need by donating items for the Keeping it Clean theme. If you are able, please have your student bring the following cleaning items to the blue Samaritan House barrels placed around campus:
TOOTHPASTE, TOOTHBRUSHES, LAUNDRY DETERGENT, HAND SOAP, SHAMPOO, BODY LOTION, DISH SOAP
The Keeping it Clean collection dates will be February 14th - March 7th.

We have collected 5100 BoxTops so far this year. If we can bring in 4900 more BoxTops we will have raised $1000 for our school. This is an easy and no cost way to bring in funding for our school. Turn in your BoxTops to your class or front office and let’s reach our goal of 10,000.
