Highlands Elementary is getting a campus refresh! You may have noticed some dust on the Bunker Hill side and that's because this summer we kicked off construction of the new Multi Purpose Room (MPR). As you can see from the rendering here, it's actually much more than a room though - the new MPR Building is a Measure T funded project that includes a large multi use room with stage, kitchen, servery, PE storage, PTA room, and restrooms. Adjacent terracing will provide seating that can be used as an outdoor classroom. Completion is expected in Summer 2024.

Dear Highlands Elementary School Community,

Welcome back to Highlands Elementary School. A special welcome to those of you who are new to our school community! I hope you all enjoyed a restful summer break. This promises to be an exciting, successful, and rewarding school year. I encourage you to become actively involved in your child’s education. Please come to the school regularly, volunteer in your child’s classroom, attend our fabulous community activities, and join our PTA, ELAC, and School Site Council. Your presence and dedication to the school community is what makes Highlands a high quality public school program for all our students.

Universal TK Expansion

SB 130 expanded Transitional Kindergarten (TK) eligibility to all four-year-olds by the 2025-2026 school year.  Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) eligibility will be rolled out according to the timeline below as set by the California Legislature.
